Re: Sharp Tools
Mon, February 25, 2008 - 2:25 PMThat is Parkour(not sure of the spelling) here in the States it is also called Free Running I think. Anyway the Guy in the movie is the son of the man who developed the style combining martial arts, gymnastics and tumbling to train Military and First response teams in a more effecient way of traversing the urban landscape, in escape and evasion and pursuit. To really master it you have to start young and be middlesized. Very small and very large men will probably not be masters of it. the small because they will not have the reach or the jump distance. The large because of the momentum problems of being bigger and stronger. I'd say the perfect size for parkour is 5'7" to 6'2" but not stocking a cross between a swimmer's and a gymnast's build. I'd like to be that fit and be able to do some of that but at my fittest I was 6'1" and 227 pounds with a 58" chest and 22" biceps and 42" waist and 33" thighs. I was built like a power lifter not a body builder. I could climb a rope hand over hand without the use of my legs and I could rag doll a 250 pound man. I'd like to be that fit again but back in my Marine days I could spend 4 hours a day running, lifting weights and doing calisthetics, I don't have the drive or the time to work out that much anymore. -

Mon, February 25, 2008 - 6:30 PMI just watched Jame's Bond "Casino Royalle" again. Remember that amazing (I guess 'parkour') foot-chase scene between Bond and the bomb-maker black dude at the beginning of the movie? Freaking Awesome!
