I'm in SE Louisiana. I'm not new to the idea of survivalism, I'm more prepared than some, less than others. I don't have a local group but would like to be in one. I'll be reading the backlog for awhile and will post as the spirit moves.

    Saltheart Foamfollower, I presume?

Welcome to the tribe. We're certainly seeing more interest in survivalism lately. Lots of people smelling something in the wind. Being as there is no looming war, and no Y2K fiasco or other set-date of disaster in the future, I find it a little disconcerting that so many people are moved back into a 'mainstream survivalist' mentality.

Might I reccommend as a well rounded package, adding 'preemtive postapocaliptism' and 'backyard garden survivalists' to your tribe reportoire. This tribe is great for info on survival situations, preparing for and getting through hard times, etc... while the former of what I have mentioned deals more with integrating a self-sufficient and preparatory lifestyle, and the latter deals in more detail the nuts-and-bolts of growing and using herb medicine and food staples, etc.

Thanks, if the opportunity arises I certainly will take a look at them. I would suggest the book Back to the Basics by Reader's Digest.
