I saw this in one of my catalogs the other day and it seemed like a neat idea. Basicly they have combined a knife with a magnesium stick in one package. Knife and fire all in one. I have never bought anything made by Tool Logic, are they any good?

Wed, May 7, 2008 - 10:59 AMGood idea, but I have my Gerber multi-tool that I love and I'm still lusting after one of those horn fire pistons linked in an earlier fire-starting post. -

Re: Another cool new product to consider
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 6:33 PMthose fire pistons just freak me out. Cavemen should not have had diesel technology. Was there some advanced engine technology in a society that collapsed before the cavemen? Seriously! How does a cave man make a technology that lies at the TOP of a long chain of discoveries and lower technologies and sciences, without ever having made those predeceeding steps in the first place? It's backwards and I don't like it. -

Re: Another cool new product to consider
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 2:05 PMduring the Ice age the cave men were trying to figure out how to warm up the globe. It wasnt diesel technology they invented, it was global warming. -

Re: Another cool new product to consider
Sun, May 11, 2008 - 1:19 PMBic lighters are great indeed, but this device is intriguing because it has an infinite shelf life. You can get a few months service out of a bic (less under the wrong atmospheric conditions) but this thing could work for years.

Re: Another cool new product to consider
Sun, May 11, 2008 - 7:01 PMI have another model. The fire sparker/LED light does not secure tightly in the knife handle and you may loose it. As delivered, the blade is not very sharp. It does have a whistle. Not a bad backup survival gadget. -

Yesterday, 7:21 AMThe one I have, the fire sparker is very secure and the blade is sharp.
